At Oxbury, we understand more than most that farming is evolving. As the only UK bank dedicated to the rural economy, we're here to help farmers navigate that change with confidence. The Oxbury Transition Facility is designed to support farmers who are exploring new ways to build resilience into their operations, no matter if you're starting your journey and considering your options or are already making changes on the ground.
Showing Your Intent to Transition
When applying for a Transition Facility, we ask for evidence that you are thinking about or are actively implementing changes to your farming practices. If you are already making progress towards sustainability and resilience, then there are plenty of ways to show it, through grant agreements, supply chain contracts, invoices or photos. Even a note from your farm advisor can all be useful.
However, if you are still in the planning phase, using tools like Land App can help you demonstrate your intent and start mapping out your ideas in a clear, visually engaging way.
How Land App Can Help
Land App is a straightforward and effective way of bringing your vision to life. By creating a free account at www.thelandapp.com and watching their easy-to-follow video tutorials, you can start mapping areas of your farm and where you are planning to make changes in an easy-to-share format.
One of the requirements for the Transition Facility is a farm map, ideally in an electronic plan. So, if you’re already using Land App, sharing your map with us couldn’t be easier; just add your Oxbury Relationship Manager’s email address into your plan by following the guidance here and we’ll take it from there.
Real Impact on the Ground
Up to October 2025, farmers using the Oxbury Transition Facility have so far mapped:
- 1,700 hectares of woodland
- 2,750 kilometres of hedgerows
Together, these areas store an estimated 38,000 tonnes of CO₂e, contributing to understanding and identifying more sustainable farming practices all over the UK.
Across more than 43,000 hectares, these same farmers also manage:
- 25,000 hectares of arable land
- 11,000 hectares of permanent pasture
It’s inspiring to see how farmers are using the Transition Facility to make meaningful changes, and tools like Land App are helping to make that journey smoother.
