How to let us know
The simplest way to inform us is by emailing bereavement@oxbury.com. We’re here to help you, from Monday to Friday at 9:00am to 5:30pm, except bank holidays, and we will ensure that one of our trained colleagues will respond and support you in the appropriate manner.
When you contact us, please share as much of the following information as you can. We understand that you might not have all of this information when you first reach out to us, and that is okay. Please share what you can, when you can.
- Full name of the individual, including as it appears on the account
- A scanned copy or clear photo of the death certificate
- Email address listed on their account
- Phone number listed on their account
- Oxbury account number/s, where possible
Next Steps
Once we have received your email, we will send you a Bereavement Pack that will outline the actions we have taken, and what your next steps are.
Things to consider
While anyone can let us know about a bereavement, we can only release funds based on instructions from their next of kin or those representing them, like a solicitor, executor of will (with a Grant of Probate), an administrator, chartered accountant or probate specialist. For more help with dealing with finances after someone has died, please visit GOV.UK and Citizen’s Advice for details.
Death certificates differ across the UK and internationally. While we accept most formal records, if the document isn’t in English or lacks a key that translates the death certificate into English, you will need to have it translated. You can find a translator or interpreter abroad by visiting GOV.UK.
How to notify government organisations
We understand how hard it can be to notify organisations once someone has died. Instead of reaching out to each organisation individually, you could consider using these free services to help organise.
- Tell Us Once is a service that lets you report a death to most government organisations in one go.
- Death Notification Service is a free service which allows you to notify a number of member organisations of a person's death, at the same time.
- Settld have a variety of services to assist in notifying companies and organisations, including household services (utilities, TV, phone, broadband, loyalty cards), digital services (social media, digital entertainment, online shopping) and financial services (banks, building societies, credit card companies, pension providers and insurers), and track everything to completion in one secure space.
